Marketing Outsourcing

In our more than ten years of working with small and mid-sized companies (particularly those with $5M - $20M in annual revenue), we have witnessed these challenges when it comes to business to business marketing:

1. Lack of strategy. Companies at this size don't need or can't afford a full time marketing strategist and often lack a strategic marketing plan.

2. Lack of dedicated focus. Non-marketing executives are often responsible for marketing and when they are called to other duties, marketing stops. Without consistent marketing, investments are wasted.

3. Lack of continuity. It is difficult to retain marketing personnel in smaller companies so turnover is high, with gaps between marketing activities and wasted effort by senior executives to bring new people up to speed frequently. High turnover leads to a gap in knowledge and marketing inconsistency.

4. Lack of expertise. Companies often aren't using the most effective marketing tools and usually fail to integrate marketing tactics to leverage their investments.

5. Lack of Evolution. It is difficult to stay current on B2B marketing tactics, tools and channels (e.g. social media) because the environment is evolving very quickly. As a result, companies aren't sure what they should be doing and so they don't try anything at all or invest time and resources towards ineffective marketing tactics.

The Solution

To solve the challenge of B2B marketing in small and mid-sized companies, Mezzanine provides outsourced marketing management.

We begin a relationship with a client by developing a marketing strategy along with a one-year implementation plan that details the tactics, timeline, budget and metrics that translate the strategy into action, and measure results.

A Mezzanine Marketing Director then becomes the company's 'chief marketing officer' and executes the plan. Marketing Directors work part of the week onsite at each client to build relationships and ensure the continuous progress of the marketing function. Marketing Directors become of a part of the client's team as much as they are a part of the Mezzanine team. They report weekly on activities and quarterly on results achieved.
