Lisa Shepherd to Chair Companies Selection Committee for Ivey Venture Forum

Toronto, Ontario – August 15, 2009 – Lisa Shepherd will Chair the Companies Selection Committee for the Ivey Venture Forum.  The Forum is organized by the Ivey Alumni Association of Toronto with the purpose of connecting early stage companies with angel and venture capital.  The event will take place on November 18^th 2009 at the Sutton Place Hotel and expects over 200 attendees. 

The first Ivey Venture Forum was held in 2008 and attracted a standing-room only audience of aspiring entrepreneurs and investors.  Five companies, from as far as Israel and California, presented their business plans.  A number of members of Toronto’s investment community took part in a panel on  ‘what money looks for’ and the key note address was delivered by Ryan Little of Stormfisher Biogas.   

Other members of the 2009 Selection Committee include Ron Close, an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Ivey and the MaRS Discovery District; Stewart Thornhill, the Executive Director of the Pierre L. Morrissette Institute for Entrepreneurship at the Richard Ivey School of Business and Kamal Gautam CEO of Motif Consulting, a management consultancy focused on the life sciences sector.
