We have a winner! Mezzanine announces winner of $75,000 Win Your Marketing Department Contest.

The Mezzanine Group is thrilled to announce that the winner of its $75,000 Win Your Marketing Department Contest is Scisense Inc. of London, Ontario.

Scisense is a manufacturer of micro-sensing equipment for medical researchers. The company began in 2002 by launching the world’s smallest solid-state pressure sensor.  Since then Scisense has expanded its product line with breakthrough technologies that help researchers more accurately and rapidly develop new drugs for serious medical conditions like Heart Failure. 

“We’re very excited to work with Scisense,” says Lisa Shepherd, president of The Mezzanine Group.  “We were looking for a company that had great products or services, but hadn’t achieved the potential of their innovation and quality.  Scisense is exactly that. They have an absolutely breakthrough technology – far better than the incumbent solution in the market.  But they have not leveraged marketing to help them build their brand and generate leads.” 

As part of the Contest, Mezzanine will develop Scisense’s marketing strategy and then serve as the company’s Marketing Director on a part time basis for a year to implement the marketing plan.  Scisense has committed $25,000 of its own funds to marketing over the next year and Mezzanine will contribute $75,000, for an investment of $100,000. 

Mezzanine reviewed Contest applications from over 65 companies and did site visits with 5 finalists before naming Scisense the winner.  “It was an extremely difficult decision because there were so many excellent candidates.  Every company we met during the site visits poured their heart into their application.  We had a hard time choosing just one,” said Amanda Steeves, Marketing Director with Mezzanine. Ultimately, Scisense was selected because the company has a business-to-business focus, a global market, strong potential ROI from marketing and is the right size for a $100,000 marketing investment. 

Rick Spence, business writer with the National Post, will be dropping in on the marketing process over the next year.  His first article on the Contest appeared in the Nov 1 article ‘Just What is Marketing?’ in the National Post.
